The Coton de Tulear comes in three color varieties -
WHITE: all white, often with champagne (cream-biscuit) highlights on ears and dorsum.
BLACK AND WHITE: pure white with prominent black patches on head and body. No restriction on the ratio of white-to-black.
Black and white Cotons retain their beautiful color throughout their life.
TRICOLOR: mostly white and cream, but tinged with beige areas; black hairs dust portions of the ears and sometimes the body
and head. Tricolors are usually heavily marked as neonates and juveniles, but as the adult coat appears, these Cotons may
appear almost white.

Brief Description of the Breed
The Coton de Tulear is a rare ancient pure breed that originated on the island of Madagascar more than three centuries ago. The
Coton de Tulear was exclusively the dog of the Royal Malagasy Noble.
The Coton is a hearty, lively, small companion dog with a friendly, engaging personality. Calm and intelligent, the "Royal Dog of
Madagascar" is characterized by its long, dry, cotton-like coat.
The Coton is less than 13 inches at the shoulders and weighs between 9 and 18 pounds.
The Coton has long unique hair (4-6 inches) that is very dry and cotton like in appearance. The hair is free of oils and the skin free
of dander, so most people believe the breed does not provoke an allergic reaction.
The Coton has a calm laid back disposition. They are intelligent highly empathetic dogs who quickly become family members. They
are extremely devoted to humans, and get along well with children and most pets.
Probably the most outstanding characteristic of the Coton de Tulear is its behavior. The Coton is a "companion dog," bred for the
pure delight of its intelligent, loving attention to its human family. Cotons are very intelligent, and study their human family with great
care. The Coton is an alert, lively companion, but it is slow to anger.
It is the breeds remarkable combination of appearance, ease of maintenance, excellent health, intelligent, calm, loyal and loving
behavior that sets the Coton apart from other breeds. Furthermore, the Coton may be one of the gentlest breeds ever created. The
Coton de Tulear is one of the least aggressive, most desirable companion dogs in the world.
